This place is a gem. Been here several times, each time the food is delicious, reasonably priced, with great staff and ambiance. You will miss it if you pass it in the ShopRite shopping center. Make it a must go desitation.

I would like to start off by saying that I have been here many times before. Great drinks, food and service. This time, not so much. Yes, it's Mother's Day, but when we arrived there was one other table inside finishing up. It took over an hour to get our food. Nothing crazy, two burgers, churrasco, a tostones dish and soup. We have been here other times where staff was attentive, this time not so much. Again, not crowded, but our waitress could not be bothered to wait a minute for my mother to decide what to order when the specials were just handed to us while the order was being taken. She walked away saying she needed to step away and did not take my husband's order or hers. She literally walked away and returned about 10 mins later only when she saw the owner speaking to us. She also never checked on us and we had to ask someone else to take back the soup because it was cold. My husband ordered the mango mojito and it was pure syrup. My daughter's drink took 15 mins to come to the table. Maybe this is just a bad experience and a new staff member. I hope management reads this as a customer that would love to give this restaurant another chance being that drinks and service improves. Thank you for the Mother's Day chocolate cakesicle. A very sweet touch. UPDATE: The owner stopped by our table to apologize for our experience and was very accommodating. We appreciate his quick attention and appreciation for his customers and business. Regardless of our experience today, it is nice to see how invested he is to approach us and speak with us. Looking forward to coming back.

You would never know this place was in the Shoprite plaza. Have been here 3 times now and realize I've had the same reaction each time; a little social anxiety walking into this tiny dining area; patrons facing the door to see the (excellent) live music, and squeezing past the musicians and through the closely placed tables (sorry for my butt in your face!) Once seated however, the vibe is modern, eclectic, slightly edgy, terrific lighting and sun setting location (again, try to get past the Shoprite parking lot). There's a short inventive cocktail list, solid wine list and a menu that everyone can enjoy. I had the hangout chicken with yellow rice and plantains; and my companion loved her salmon, potatoes and veggies. I took home the tre leche cake which was the best cake I've ever had. SERIOUSLY. The owner and service staff were attentive and friendly, and the banter with the band made it all the more personal and fun. Highly recommend!

I was in the area with a friend, looking for a place to grab lunch and we happened to spot this restaurant in the corner of a shopping plaza. It sounded OK and we didn't want to keep looking, so we decided to give it a try. SO GLAD we did! Everything was great, from the decor, to the service, drinks, appetizers and entrees! The nachos and street taco appetizers were great, and I was so stuffed that I had to take the Cuban sandwich home. Took a piece of flan home too and that was heavenly! I hear they have music there on certain weekend nights, so I plan to go back for more!

I don't know anything about the area but the food was good we had the famous cuban and the midnight. Had for an appetizer the ultimate nachos me any my wife shared. The sandwiches were very good and full of flavor. The plantains were cooked perfectly and hard to resist. The nachos were ok nothing to brag about (average in taste) but too expensive for the portion side (19.50). Any how like I said I know nothing about this area but over all the food was good, atmosphere was fine, service was excellent, friendly and informative.

I was definitely not expecting this place from the name...when I saw the FB event for a blues singer at "The Hangout" I expected a dive bar feel but I was so wrong! Cute small place with a South American/American menu that is done all the way right. I tried the Hangout Chicken and I loved every savory bite from the moist flavorful chicken to the yellow garlicky rice to the crisp sweet plantains. The staff was very accommodating and attentive to any need and made the night that much better. When I'm the area you can not go wrong with this lovely little place.

Our first time here. It's a cute place. The first thing I noticed was the HUGE centerpieces on the tables like wedding style with tall candles. They were very fancy, almost too fancy for a place called the "Hangout Cafe". They give you plaintain chips to start with a dipping sauce. I did not like the dipping sauce at all. It would have tasted better with a creamy chipotle dipping sauce. We had tacos and the snapper in a garlic sauce, sweet plaintains were excellent and for dessert the flan. Dinner and dessert was very good and the waitress was very pleasant. We will be back!
